Russian Racing Cup 2014 in the Super-Production Group
Last weekend the Kazan Ring circuit hosted the 4th stage of the Russian circuit auto racing series. A record number of the LADA Granta Cup cars participated in the Super-Production event. The participants of the previous stages Vladislav Nezvankin, Lev Tolkachev, Alexandr Tupitsin took the start. They were joined by Sergey Shalunov, Rais Minnihanov and Kirill Rasputin. Thus, more than a half of the Super-Production Class participants preferred to drive LADA.
The 1st Sunday race saw a serious fight, but Andrey Maslenikov who started first did not let Vladislav Nezvankin win the lead despite his attacks in all 15 laps. Eventually, the places were distributed as follows:
2nd place – Vladislav Nezvankin
4th place – Sergey Shalunov
5th place – Lev Tolkachev
6th place – Rais Minnihanov
LADA Sport INNOCENTI team in the person of Vladislav Nezvankin and Lev Tolkachev won the 1st place in the team event.
The 2nd race was more successful for the LADA Granta Cup experienced racer Sergey Shalunov who skillfully overcame the “blockage” in the first turn, overtook his rivals swiftly and finished in the third place. Vladislav Nezvankin took the start from the second position, but had to move to the rear of the peloton due to an incident. He came in 4th.
In the course of the 4 stages held so far the Cup bolides are steadily moving towards the top of the podium in the Super-Production class presenting strong competition for the foreign cars Honda Civic and Renault Clio. As the racings are held in the United class 2000, the racers have to rival with BMW320, SEAT Leon, Subaru BRZ prepared for the Touring class. The striking results achieved by LADA Granta in the competition only confirms once again that it was a correct decision to leave the mono class.
