Lada Granta Cup 2013: Krasnoyarsk weekend results
The second stage of the Lada Granta Cup was held at the Red Ring circuit in Krasnoyarsk, the racers were driving special 235-strong versions of LADA Granta sport cars, equipped by the best Russian ingeneers from the TMS-Sport Company.
11 pairs took the start in the first 50-minute race. The experienced driver Mikhail Mityayev (#77) from Syzran Racing Team took the lead from the start, closely followed by the AutoVAZ PROO driver Pavel Kalmanovich (#17), and the first driver of the second Syzran Team Dmitry Bragin (#4).
Kalmanovich was the first to exit the race when his car cought fire on the 10th lap. The battle between the two Syzran Racing teams ended on the 42nd minute when Sergey Shalunov who replaced Mityayev made a mistake on the curve exit and clashed with Nikita Misyulya (#50, MIR-CSKA), the Cup ratings leader, who lagged one lap behind. Bragin’s replacement Maxim Simonov from Syzran finished first with a two second advantage over Vladimir Melnikov and Vladislav Nezvankin from Autoreview team (#74) who came in second.
The fate of the third prize was decided after the finish over the KSC meeting table. The judges added 40 seconds to the result of Arkadiy Tsareradtsev, a novice from Krasnoyarsk who came in third, for a “contact overtaking”, thus giving the third prize to the Russian Bears team (#1) in the person of Vitaliy Dudin and Sergey Ryabov.
The second Sunday race had no accidents and went rather smoothly. 23-year-old Misyulya from Samara started from the pole position, left his competitors behind, and achieved his second win of the 2013 season, with an almost 11,5 second lead. The second prize went to Dudin and Ryabov who fought hard for their position with the reresentatives of the Aeroexpress Racing Team Vasiliy Gryazin and Boris Shulmeister (#15).
Again, the bronze medal winners were determined by the judges who nullified the results of three teams (including the Aeroexpress team who came in third) for “underweight”. As a result, the third prize went to Alexandr Kobenko and Pavel Kalmanovich who failed in the first race.
