The third stage of the LADA Granta Cup in Smolensk. The race was held at the Smolensk Ring circuit.
Ten LADA Granta Sport cars took the start in Smolensk.
Alexandr Kobenko – Pavel Kalmanovich; Sergey Shalunov – Viktor Shapovalov; Maxim Simonov – Dmitry Bragin; Rustam Akiniyazov – Oleg Petrikov; Vadim Sokolov – Vitaliy Dudin; Alexey Chaban – Mikhail Mityayev; Yuriy Loboda – Mikhail Loboda; Yuriy Makushin – Sergey Ryabov; Vladimir Nikolaev – Mikhail Maleev; Kirill Ladygin – Vyacheslav Maleev. The Moscow team of brothers Yuriy and Mikhail Loboda were the first in the overall standings before the third stage.
The Smolensk Ring general manager, also a LADA Granta Cup driver, Oleg Petrikov:
– It was a great idea to create a new VAZ mono cup, such competitions contribute to the development of Russian motorsports.
The new series allows the drivers to participate in the national championship with a relatively small budget. It will give the beginners an opportunity to learn and train before going on to the more significant championships, and the experienced drivers can their skills outside Russian and European Championships. The Russian stage of European Truck Racing Championship TRUCK BATTLE RUSSIA 2011 also took place whithin the weekend racing event at the Smolensk circuit.
Vyacheslav Maleev and Kirill Ladygin's team came first. The second to reach the finishing line was Pavel Kalmanovich and Alexandr Kobenko’s Granta, and the third place was taken by Maxim Simonov and Dmitry Bragin. The next seven places, descending: the fourth – Yuriy and Mikhail Loboda, the fifth – Sergey Shalunov and Viktor Shapovalov, the sixth – Vitaliy Dudin and Vadim Sokolov, the seventh – Sergey Ryabov and Yuriy Makushin, the eighth – Rustam Akiniyazov, the ninth – Vladimir Nikolaev and Mikhail Maleev, the tenth – Alexey Chaban and Mikhail Mityayev.
